Financial Assistance

For CAJE members unable to meet conference costs, limited partial scholarships are available. Since many local communities and schools provide grants and funding to attend the CAJE conferences, we urge you first to check for funding in your local community. If you need additional assistance, you can apply for a scholarship here -->



We also offer a limited number of work-study positions. CAJE work-study assistants will be required to work 15 hours during the conference in exchange for full funding. Work-study positions are for the conference only and do not include Shabbat/Tisha B'Av or single room supplement. Applicants will be screened based on work skills and financial need. The deadline for all requests is May 31, 2008. You must have a complete conference application on file and be a current CAJE member prior to applying for either option.

Important Information

Staying on Campus

Much of the joy of CAJE is what happens outside of the classroom setting where networking and meeting friends occur spontaneously and often after hours. Those who get the most out of a CAJE Conference immerse themselves in the whole experience by staying on campus. The cost of the Conference (Aug. 10-14) includes all programs, meals (Sunday dinner through Thursday lunch), lodging, including bedding, towels, soap, drinking cups.

Commuting

If you register as a commuter, you are entitled to all programs and meals (Sunday dinner through Thursday lunch). Parking is available on campus for $4 per day or $12 for the week.

Kashrut Policy

All food is prepared under rabbinic supervision. Meals are dairy/pareve (except Shabbat dinner and lunch, which are meat meals with vegetarian options available). Provisions will be made for those who let us know about specific food allergies in advance.

When Does the Conference Begin and End?

Shabbat programming begins Friday, August 8 at 4:00 PM. Tisha B'Av begins at sundown August 9. CAJE 33 programming will begin Sunday, August 10 at 4:00 pm. You will be able to join in the ongoing observance of Tisha B'Av at whatever time you arrive on Sunday. CAJE 33 will end Thursday, August 14 at 1 pm, after lunch.

Policies and Procedures

Modifications

Modifications to your registration may be made online or by submitting changes in writing to the CAJE National Office in New York by July 1, 2008.

Processing Your Application

Your application will not be processed unless it is accompanied by a $420 deposit ($50 of which is a non-refundable processing fee) and membership dues if applicable. An application sent without a deposit or with invalid credit card information will delay processing (and could disqualify your Early-Bird status and possibly your ability to join us at the Conference if the Conference registration closes). All balances are due by June 15, 2008. If an application is made online with an indication that payment is to be made by check, the check, with the required amount, must be received in the CAJE office within two weeks or the application will be considered void.

Special Needs

CAJE and The University of Vermont will do their best to meet the special needs of any Conference participant. All of the facilities CAJE will use on campus are wheelchair accessible. If you have particular physical or dietary challenges, please let us know about them by writing as part of your online registration so we can prepare to make you as comfortable as possible.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the CAJE National Office. If your written cancellation is postmarked by July 1, 2008, you will receive a full refund of conference fees, less a $50 processing fee. CAJE membership fees are not refundable. After July 1, 2008, you will receive the portion of conference fees not contractually due, less the $50 processing fee. Special circumstance cancellations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, only if communicated to CAJE in writing. Refunds requested after July 1 will be issued after the Conference.

Application Deadlines

Enrollment at CAJE 33 is on a first-come, first-served basis. Spaces could be filled well before the posted final payment deadline. You are urged to submit your forms and payment as early as possible. Applications postmarked after June 15, 2008 must be paid in full or they can not be processed.


Travel Information

Burlington is beautiful, and the airport is five minutes from campus, but be aware that smaller market flights and connections may be tricky. Two recommendations:
